Wir sind eine Band aus dem Südwesten Deutschlands und spielen Musik aus dem Südwesten der USA. Wir bezeichnen es als american songwriter rock. Inspiriert von Leuten wie John Hiatt, Little Feat, Brothers Landreth und vielen anderen.
In diesem Sommer sind wir zum ersten Mal live auf der Bühne zu hören - die Termine findet Ihr unter TOUR.

Heute gehts im Southland Songbook um einen Song, den wir nicht spielen, den ich aber enorm verehre. Er ist musikalisch schön, und er ist vor allem ein Meisterwerk der Textkomposition. Er heißt "Woman on the wheel" und stammt von der amerikanischen Songwriterin Gretchen Peters.
In der Rubrik "Southland Songbook" stellen immer wieder mal Songs vor, von uns und von anderen Bands. Was macht den Song aus, was ist am Text oder an der Musik besonders bemerkenswert, und so weiter...viel Spaß! Heute geht's um "Hurricane", einen Song, den wir von The Band of Heathens ausgeborgt haben - aber von denen ist er nicht...

heute abend um 22 Uhr ist Markus Frieauff mit SOUTHLAND STATION zu Gast bei ANTENNE MAINZ in der Sendung "Im Talk mit Volker Pietzsch". Und obwohl Rod Stewart mal gesagt hat "talking about music is like singing about football", wird die Sendung interessant ...es geht um die Entstehung der Band, um die Bedeutung von Musik im Allgemeinen und um Americana im Besonderen...und es gibt natürlich auch Musik von SOUTHLAND STATION zu hören!

After months of intense rehearsal we're now ready to hit the stag: SOUTHLAND STATION playing for you live!
On May 3rd you can see us live for the first time. We'll be playing the Schlosskeller Windecken in Nidderau (close to Frankfurt). Show starts at 21:00, doors open 20:00. We bring you a load of american songwriter rock - some our own, some written by others.
We can't wait to see the kind folks of the club who invited us to debut on their stage - and all of you too, of course!
Happy new year to all you fellows out there in the Southland! We have some news for you...or better, a new kid in town: Oliver Hess has taken over as our bass player from Johannes Funk. Johannes had to conclude he doesn't have enough time and energy for two band projects (he's also running his own band Gary's Pocket) but he offered to continue until we found a new bass player. Thanks, Johannes for your commitment and input, we really appreciate it.
And here's to the new kid in town: Oliver Hess has taken over! He's a solid bass player, a melodic creator - and a helluvaniceguy! Welcome to the Station, Oliver!
